Alec Bradley Tempus Centuria Maduro Review
Alec Bradley Tempus Centuria Maduro: 49 x 7"
Wrapper: Maduro
Binder: Trojes, Honduras Criollo ’98 – Indonesia Embetunada
Filler: Trojes, Honduras, Nicaragua
Today's cigar for review is the Alec Bradley Tempus Maduro Centuria. The Tempus Maduro, a fine cigar from the Alec Bradley Company improves on their cigar aficionado 94 rated Tempus line with the addition of a kick-ass very dark maduro wrapper. Review continued after the jump.
The cigar is constructed in the traditional Cuban way by tubing each filler and finished with the a triple cap. Made at the Raices Cubanas factory in Honduras, Alec Bradley touts that only the top 20% of the factories rollers are selected to craft this cigar, blending tobacco from a select farm in Honduras with choice selected Nicaraguan tobacco.
Upon first glance, these cigars draw you in right away with their presentation, the box and band are beautifully designed with a golden filigree accents throughout, then you come to the wrapper, which in the standard Tempus' case is a beautiful autumn shaded criollo which is very consistent across the entire line. However in the case of Maduro Tempus, the wrapper is a beautiful dark chocolate shade so dark it borders on coal, also consistent across the entire line. All in all a very beautifully presented cigar.
As for the smoke itself, with a straight cut the Tempus had a nice open draw and was very earthy even before lighting. Once lit, the maduro wrapper kicks in and offers quite a lot of spice to the smoke while not being overbearing at all. However I would not suggestpartaking of this cigar on an empty stomach. The Alec Bradley company suggests pairing it with spicy Thai, not having that on hand though, I went with pizza. After initial lighting the cigar cooled down a bit and the flavor was smooth, semisweet and earthy. All throughout the smoke stayed consistent and burned quite easily and evenly with no need to relight or touch up at all. The cigar finished wonderfully becoming slightly toastier either naturally or due to the fact that I was drawing on it a little more because I was enjoying it so much.
All in all a wonderful cigar, reasonably priced at $9.00 at Havana Sensation. If your not sure if you can handle the maduro just yet, work your way into it with one of the original Tempus line also available in a variety of sizes.
