Ernest Hemingway

  • Born on July 21, 1889 in Oak Park Illinois.
  • Died on July 2, 1961 in Ketchum, Idaho from a self-inflicted wound to the face from his favorite 12 gauge Boss shotgun.
  • Worked as an ambulance driver for the Red Cross during World War I.
  • Was a correspondant for the National American Newspaper Alliance during the Spanish Civil War.
  • He spent much of World War II on his fishing boat the "Pilar" after convincing the cuban government to help him retrofit it for ambushing German submarines.
  • Favorite Drink: Mojito
  • Zino Davidoff once declared Hemingway, "a devoted smoker of Havana Cigars"
  • "Always do sober what you said you'd do drunk. That will teach you to keep your mouth shut"
